Quick answer: vMenu is a free, server-sided admin and player menu for FiveM, made by Tom Grobbe (Vespura). It gives players and staff an in-game menu for spawning vehicles, changing weather and time, teleporting, and moderating players, with every feature controlled by FiveM's permission system. To install it, download vMenu from GitHub, place it in your server's resources folder, then add exec @vMenu/config/permissions.cfg and ensure vMenu to server.cfg, in that order.

What is vMenu?
vMenu is a free FiveM resource that adds an in-game menu for both players and admins. It is server-sided, which means the server decides what each player is allowed to do, so players cannot unlock features they have not been given.
vMenu is made by Tom Grobbe, known as Vespura, and is published on GitHub with documentation at docs.vespura.com/vmenu. It works standalone, so it does not need a framework such as QBCore or ESX.
What can you do with vMenu?
- Vehicles: spawn any vehicle, repair, customise and save vehicles.
- Player options: change your character model and clothing, teleport, toggle god mode or noclip.
- World: change the weather and time of day, synced for everyone on the server.
- Weapons: give and customise weapons.
- Moderation: kick, temporarily ban, permanently ban and summon players from the Online Players menu.
- Permissions: decide exactly which of these each player or staff group can use.
By default, players open the menu with the M key.
Is vMenu a framework? vMenu vs QBCore and ESX
vMenu is not a roleplay framework. QBCore and ESX handle money, jobs, inventories and characters; vMenu gives players and staff a menu of sandbox tools. Choose vMenu for freeroam-style servers, and a framework for economy-based roleplay.
vMenu | QBCore or ESX | |
|---|---|---|
What it is | Admin and player menu | Full roleplay framework |
Money, jobs, inventory | No | Yes |
Database required | No | Yes |
Setup difficulty | Low | Moderate to high |
Best for | Freeroam, car meets, drifting, police sim and training, private and dev servers | Economy-based roleplay cities |
Some roleplay servers run vMenu alongside a framework for its vehicle spawner and weather controls, with the admin features limited to staff.
What do you need before installing vMenu?
You need a working FiveM server you can edit files on, and the latest vMenu release. That is all.
- A FiveM server running FXServer, on your own PC, a VPS or a host that gives you file access.
- Access to the server's files, specifically the resources folder and server.cfg.
- Your FiveM identifier (Rockstar license or Steam hex) if you want to make yourself an admin. You can find it in txAdmin's player list or in the server console when you join.
- The latest vMenu release from the GitHub Releases page. Download the release .zip, not the source code.
How to install vMenu on a FiveM server
Download vMenu, extract it into resources/vMenu, set up permissions.cfg, add two lines to server.cfg and restart the server. It takes about ten minutes.
Prefer video? Watch our step-by-step tutorial, which covers installing vMenu Enhanced on both FiveM Legacy and FiveM Enhanced servers:
Step 1: Download vMenu
Go to the vMenu Releases page and download the latest release .zip file.
Step 2: Extract it into your resources folder
Extract the zip into your server's resources folder so that the path is resources/vMenu/fxmanifest.lua. The folder must be named exactly vMenu, and fxmanifest.lua must sit directly inside it, not in a second vMenu folder.
Step 3: Set up permissions.cfg
Open resources/vMenu/config/permissions.cfg. This file decides who can use which features. Add yourself as an admin with your identifier (see the permissions section below).
Step 4: Add vMenu to server.cfg
Add these lines to server.cfg. The exec line must come before ensure vMenu:
exec @vMenu/config/permissions.cfg
ensure vMenuStep 5: Restart the whole server
Restart the full FiveM server, not just the resource. Permission changes only load when the server starts.
Step 6: Join and press M
Join your server and press M. If you see the full menu, vMenu is installed. If you only see Misc Settings and About, see the troubleshooting section.
How to set up vMenu permissions and make yourself admin
vMenu uses FiveM's ACE permissions. You grant features to groups with add_ace, then put players in groups with add_principal.
To make yourself an admin, add a line like this to permissions.cfg, replacing the identifier with your own:
add_principal identifier.license:YOUR_LICENSE_HERE group.adminA simple setup gives everyone the menu, and keeps moderation for staff:
# Everyone can use the menu
add_ace builtin.everyone "vMenu.Everything" allow
# Admins inherit moderator permissions
add_principal group.admin group.moderator
# Moderators can kick and temp ban
add_ace group.moderator "vMenu.OnlinePlayers.Kick" allow
add_ace group.moderator "vMenu.OnlinePlayers.TempBan" allow
# Admins can permanently ban and unban
add_ace group.admin "vMenu.OnlinePlayers.PermBan" allow
add_ace group.admin "vMenu.OnlinePlayers.Unban" allowThree rules save most headaches:
- Never use deny. The vMenu docs advise against it. To remove a feature, delete or comment out its allow line instead.
- Restart the full server after every permissions change.
- Public server? Instead of vMenu.Everything for everyone, list only the features you want regular players to have.
vMenu not working? Common problems and fixes
Most vMenu problems come from load order, folder structure or permissions not being reloaded.
Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Menu only shows Misc Settings and About | permissions.cfg not loaded, or loaded after vMenu | Put |
vMenu does not start at all | Folder double-nested or misnamed | Make sure the path is exactly resources/vMenu/fxmanifest.lua |
Permission changes do nothing | Only the resource was restarted | Restart the whole FiveM server |
You are not an admin | Wrong or missing identifier | Copy your license or Steam identifier from txAdmin or the console into add_principal |
Weather or time keeps flickering | Another script also syncs weather or time | Disable one of them, for example |
Pressing M does nothing | Menu key changed or another script uses M | Check your keybinds in FiveM settings and other resources using the same key |
Want a full vMenu server without the setup? Try an HTNetwork vMenu pack
vMenu on its own is just the menu. A playable server also needs voice chat, a postal map, chat, a loading screen and usually custom vehicles and maps, all configured to work together. HTNetwork's vMenu packs give you that as a ready-made server, installed in one click with HTN Panel. vMenu itself remains free; the packs are for owners who would rather not assemble everything by hand.
Best for | Freeroam, private and dev servers, first-time owners | Police sim, LEO training, car meets and larger communities |
What is included | Configured vMenu, postal map, fuel script, RP chat, VOIP, custom loading screen | Configured vMenu with 110+ vehicles (80+ police), 10+ map mods, PMA Voice, CIV and LEO interaction menus and custom weapons |
Install | One click with HTN Panel | One click with HTN Panel |
Price model | One-time purchase | One-time purchase |
Both packs install on your own PC or a VPS, and you can keep adding your own scripts, vehicles and maps afterwards.
